Episode 129: Behemoth

this one begins with Astronomique’s modern reimagining of 90’s dreampop before shifting gears to Ckrono’s aggressive reggaeton sounds (off a compilation of House music). The remainder of the mix goes back and forth between oblique club and hip-hop, with a focus on the oldschool. There are a few sidetracks into slow house and alternative rock before things roll to an end with Steve Hauschildt’s mellow, heady techno. At that point I realized I was way short, so I threw in a Dilla-esque exercise in instrumental hip hop from (Stones Throw recording artist) Rejoicer. If I could do it again, I’d probably reverse the order of the final two tunes… but it works!
