Episode 133: Down For Real

This episode starts off with several tunes that fall more on the “song” end of the song/track spectrum. First off, Montreal’s Ouri splits the difference between techno and pop. Then Santa Muerte provides an edit of mumblestar Lil Uzi Vert, coming from the most recent Bootlegs and Edits compilation (which comp is, without a doubt, the MVP of this episode). Lambda Celcius is next, with a slab of lo-fi goth/industrial paving the way for Shygirl’s modern club chanteuse act. From there, things veer more toward the club end of things with contributions (edging the needle toward the “track” end of the spectrum) from Rabit, Noelsferatu and Deadboy. The middle third of the mix goes full-tracky and full-techno (former D******pers Martyn and Peverelist lay down some shuffle, Call Super conjures the heavy thump, Robert Hood drops the pH, Orphx brings the noise, and another former D******per, Scuba keeps it minimalist). before veering off into a more house-indebted direction (J Wax with the breakbears and Willie Burns with the funk/soul) as a bridge into the final segment… wherein Amnesia Scanner (bringing the weird), Tears (remixing Playboi Carti), Ase Manual and Capitol Kaos bring things back into the club. But we’re not settled there quite yet! Nathan Fake returns to take the warmdown back into techno territory in typical warmly-analog fashion.
