Episode 136: Laced With Acid

This episode is just a party. Nothing pretentious, no throwing in chin-scratching tracks for their own sake… sure, things do their usual weirdness around the half-hour mark, but even then it’s brief and mild and quickly returns to straight-ahead grooves. The original idea, as suggested by the title, was to play a whole ton of acid tracks. Much like how episode 132 was supposed to be a lot of gqom, that ended up not really happening. There’s still plenty of 303 squelches, along with other electronic noises to keep the upper registers filled with ear-candy. but the heart of this mix is the steady shifting kickdrum thump. Lots of clubby house and housey club, even a dash of techno from the more crowd-pleasing end of the spectrum. If I weren’t a day late getting this up, I’d say to throw it on while cooking up your Thanksgiving meal and groove with your t(of)urkey…
