Episode 177: Back to Werk
This episode begins with another chance to show off a new station ID, a charming little morsel from the singer of Swedish neo-goth outfit Then Comes Silence. This is, unsurprisingly, followed by one of their tunes… the best on their new album, if you ask me.
Things end with a tune from another neo-goth band who sent NOPE a station ID: Moaning, with a lead-up from some French disco courtesy of Kitsune records and friend of NOPE Jes Skolnik (AKA National Tattler) with their Le Tigre-eaque bop ‘the gentrification song’.
Between these two we have layers of footwork and footwork-inspired 160 Jungle workouts, and a crunchy center of pop, wonky DnB, and jazzstep.
It makes for an odd sandwich, but if you listen to SttM on the reg the flava should be familiar.
