Episode 185: My Other Car
StayInYrHouse Party
Here we have an episode that was originally 124 BPM or thereabouts, but I misjudged the playlist and it ended up going quite long. Therefore it’s absurdly sped up to fit its hourlong slot. If things seem at all frantic… that’s the reason.
To my ears, this is especially true of the first track… maybe only because I’m familiar with its more mellow home tempo. Even sped up it starts things out on a louche, mellow note, before the house jams come in and run things for a while.
Ian Chang and Kazu break things down, followed by Austra… last heard lamenting the dread of a doomed relationship, here she is lamenting the ongoing disintegration of one. The album, you may note, has a Theme.
The final third brings back the house sounds, but this time mixed with some post-rave, techno, and mashup jams. The closing mashup in particular is quite witty (‘fyou ask me, which you implicitly did by clicking whatever link took you here, so there) and closes the mix that borrowed its name on a fun note. BEEP BEEP YEAH!
