Episode 203: Dark End

This is an episode for the true heads. Things start out with a bit of goth-y posty-punky dance rock from present-day Swedish masters of the genre Then Comes Silence… but then segue into the Title track from Truth’s latest EP and from there it’s pure Dubstep and instrumental Grime (with, arguably, a single track of post-Grime wonkiness from Neil Landstrumm, depending on which taxonomical hairs you want to split) for the duration.

In hindsight, after putting these episodes together, I often notice, especially with single-genre episodes, that I inadvertently focused on one or two labels. In this episode, for example, a good chunk of the tracks are from DEEP MEDi MUSiK. Another sizable chunk are released by Tectonic Recordings. Both labels are known for carrying the original torch of deep, spacious Dubstep sounds against the encroaching barbarian hordes of EDM broze armed with midrange jizzwobble Go-bot rainbow showers.

What I’m saying here is… no matter how much you hate what passes for Dubstep lately, you can’t possibly as much as oldskool Dubstep fans do. So warm up yr subwoofers, open yr mind and ears, and give this mix a listen. If you’re not a true head going in, you might just be one coming out.
