Episode 222: Happy Solstice, Merry Yule!

’twas the Wednesday before Christmas…

Every few years I put together a new Yule episode for the Winter solstice-adjacent holidays, the celebration of the return of light to the world as the days stop getting shorter and start getting longer. Remember: the tilt in the Earth’s axis is the reason for the season!

Recent holiday episodes have been packed to the gills with mahsups, most of them courtesy of the Santastic compilations, with the addition this year of the Bootie Mashup series of compilations. This was also the year that Furnace and the Fundamentals released their “Very Furnace Christmas” album, full of essentially live band mashups.

In previous years I had studiously avoided a controversial addition to the Christmas canon from Ms. Mariah Carey. In all that time I have accumulated several dozen versions, enough finally to break down the dam.
