Episode 117: No Fuks Given

This most recent episode first aired a few weeks ago (apologies for the delay), at a time when a confluence of circumstances led to zero people listening to it. I thought that was a shame, because I’m quite fond of this one. So I let it marinate for a few weeks and aired it again. Hence the delay. But now it’s up. and you fine folks can all listen to it.

The episode is subtitled “Footwork and Footwork Adjacent,” which is pretty accurate ‘fy’askme. It starts out with Surly’s unexpectedly effective hybrid of Footwork and Polish jazz, then intersperses conventional footwork with Proc Fiskal’s upbeat grime creations, Londy’s house-based take on the Juke genre, Sun People’s footwork/DnB hybrid, and a slowish halftime DnB tune from Finnish junglist Fanu. The middle third wanders farther afield, incorporating techno and tech-house and avant-garde club sounds. The final third of the mix returns to conventional Footwork territory, with some seriously smoking beat/sample workouts and a bit of hip-hop smuggled in at the end…
