This Week: More Club Weirdness

What can I say about this week’s episode? At the risk of underselling it, I seem to have settled into a bit of a comfortable rut, mixing some underground club with some techno, slapping on a bit of grime, calling it a show. And it keeps working and I’m not tired of it yet, so who knows how long this will continue? But what makes this one different…?

To give you an idea what to expect, here’s a bit of “inside baseball” on how the mixed metaphor is made. Each hour I divide into 3 parts, roughly 20 minutes each. The first act is the intro, with accessible but intriguing tunes, grabbing attention, presenting all the elements that will show up in the mix. The second act is the development, where I generally put the more challenging, noisy, out-there jonx. ‘Swhy the episodes tend to get odd at around the halfway point. Then the third act is the climax: the crowd-pleasers, the peak time bidness. Simple enough, right? Well, somewhere along the process of putting together the playlist for episode 118, quite without meaning to, I made an episode where the second act devoured half the third.

tl;dr: this one is especially and elongatedly weird. And said weirdness largely takes the place of any payoff.
