Episode 208: Strut

This episode is all about joy. Things take a turn for the minor key at about the half hour mark, but in a certain context even sinister sonics feel more like a giggly jaunt through a haunted house… Allen French sets the tone with his uber-melodic contribution to the House Kitsune America compilation, after which The Allergies cement the upbeat feel. After that opening, I could play Bauhaus and it would sound like a kid’s birthday party (I’m as disappointed with myself as you are for not snagging the low-hanging Nick Cave joke there). Everything wraps up with a few mashups and elohim and Big Freedia urging us all to treat every moment of our lives like a runway we need to work. I defy you to leave this one in a bad mood.

Anyway, put this on if you have a sink full of dishes to wash or a pile of clean laundry to fold, or if you just need to distract yourself from your everyday with some funky beats and joyful sounds.
